The Sligo County Board has decided to postpone the County Fleadh (scheduled for Riverstown in June) because of the coronavirus pandemic. They hope to reschedule the County Fleadh if and when circumstances permit. The county board and branches continue to take entries for the county fleadh so as to be prepared for fleadh competitions when it is rescheduled. The closing date for receipts of entries is Friday 28th March. Entries should be sent to Bartley Gavin, Larkhill Road, Sligo.
Similarly Comhaltas have announced that Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will not proceed during the month of August as scheduled. They have indicated that it is the intention to reschedule fleadhanna (county fleadhanna, provincial fleadhanna and Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann) later this year, again “subject to the status of the pandemic at that time”. See correspondence from Comhaltas regarding this decision below.
The SCT music exams intended for March and April have also been postponed.
In the meantime we hope you and your families stay safe and well.
